This course examines topics and concerns around youth crime and youth justice in Canada with some additional international context. The course will cover the principles of how the criminal justice system deals with young people who come into conflict with the law, the nature and extent of youth crime in Canada, and various theories that attempt to explain it. It further explores public reactions and concerns around youth crime and selected topics of contemporary importance in youth justice.

 

About the College

The College of Social and Applied Human Sciences traces its origins and traditions to the establishment of the Macdonald Institute, one of the University of Guelph's three founding colleges.
