"You can't take it to heart': Responses to Racialization and Othering in a New Immigration Context

Prof. Bernadette Nadya Jaworsky (Masaryk University)

Bernadette Nadya Jaworsky is a Professor of Sociology at Masaryk University (Czech Republic) and Scholar of Excellence at the Toronto Metropolitan Univercity CERC in Migration and Integration. Her current research focuses on in-depth cultural sociological analysis and reconstruction of public issues such as perceptions of migration, the 'reverse sociology' of migrant responses to racialization and Othering, and the boundaries of solidarity in the civil sphere.

About the College

The College of Social and Applied Human Sciences traces its origins and traditions to the establishment of the Macdonald Institute, one of the University of Guelph's three founding colleges.

The college provides programming in a range of social science and applied human science disciplines and support to discipline-based and interdisciplinary researchers.
