We are delighted to welcome Dr. Saide Mobayed Vega, who is a Lecturer in Digital Culture and Society at the University College London’s Department of Information Studies. Dr. Mobayed Vega also co-edited The Routledge International Handbook on Femicide and Feminicide (2023) with our very own Dr. Myrna Dawson. She will share her timely and relevant research on the production of feminicide data. The title of her talk is "The Friction of Facts: On the Productive Paradoxes of Scaling Data."

Saide Mobayed Vega is a qualitative sociologist working across the sociology of knowledge, critical data studies, and feminist STS, focusing on gender-based violence, digital infrastructure, and the politics of data. She is a Lecturer in Digital Culture and Society at University College London's Department of Information Studies and holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Cambridge. She co-founded the Femi(ni)cide Watch Platform in 2017 and edited The Routledge International Handbook on Femicide and Feminicide (2023).
