Course Description
This seminar will focus on theoretical perspectives and conceptual developments in the sociology of crime and its control. We will examine the foundations of a variety of theories with reference to classic and contemporary research, public policy and criminal justice applications. The main objective of the seminar is to offer graduate students a comprehensive overview and forum to develop a critical understanding of criminology in Canada in terms of social theory, research, and public policy debates.
Evaluation
Grades will be determined based on the following requirements:
Research Paper 50%
Group work 30%
Class Participation 20%
