"What AI Can't Do: Interpretive Social Science and the Critique of Large Language Models"

Dr. Fuyuki Kurasawa, York University

Fuyuki Kurasawa is an Associate Professor and Director of the Global Digital Citizenship Lab in the Department of Sociology at York University in Toronto. Kurasawa has been a Fulbright Scholar and Visiting Fellow at Cornell, the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, Harvard, NYU, and Yale, where he is a Permanent Faculty Fellow of the Center for Cultural Sociology. His current research examines the state of evidence as a disputed cultural and political artifact in the court of online public opinion, as well as the societal and governmental responses to the problems that generative AI is engendering.
